This article deals with a number of lexical items in Ancient Greek texts which were misunderstood in the past since they belonged to earlier stages of Modern Greek. At the end of the article there is a discussion of a word in an text of imperial times which has always been corrected because nobody looked at its presence in modern greek lexica.
