A few inscriptions found in 1839/1840 (or shortly after) in the excavations conducted by the Guglielmi family at the Insula Sacra between Ostia and Portus, reported as missing in CIL XIV and ever since, have been fortuitously rediscovered in the storerooms of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Civitavecchia. This paper aims to describe the history of their discovery, oblivion, and unacknowledged re-emergence through the vicissitude of the Guglielmi collection.
