Introduction: OSAS is characterized by airway obstruction as a result of a single or multiple narrowing of the airways at the level of the oropharynx, nasopharynx or hypopharynx. Objectives: The aim of the study is to explain the disease and suggest appropriate medical measures. Methods: It is possible to make a presumptive diagnosis clinic, in the presence of certain features, followed by a proper examination. Results: We note that the obstruction, partial (hypopnea) or complete (apnea), generates respiratory effort and nocturnal awakenings determining the onset of restless sleep and morning drowsiness. The patient is often accompanied to the doctor's office by a family member or partner disturbed by snoring. Concluding remarks: Nocturnal polysomnography is the diagnostic gold standard. Therapy can adopt an approach that is surgical or not surgical
