In 2002, Giovanni Verrrando (Sanremo, 1965) composed The rough detail celebrated by Aby Warburg, a 11' composition for 5 players: flute (+ newspaper), clarinet (+ claves), violin, cello, piano, inspired by the German scholar's writings. The composition belongs to the first period of Verrando's production, during which his works were developed through harmonic fields. Starting from 2005 - as one can read in the official website of the artist - "his musical research is focused on the inharmonic part of the spectrum, on noise and the micro-proporties of each sound". In this interview, Verrando talks about the relevance of Warburg's "detail" in his composition, developing his ideas of contemporary musical language.
