This paper aims to underline a peculiar feature in a famous passage of Plato's Protagoras (338e 6-347a 5): this section, in which Socrates and Protagoras discuss about the interpretation of Simonides (fr. 542 PMG = 260 Poltera), might reflect specific methods of exegesis of three characters sit in the audience (Protagoras, Prodicus, Hippias). This Platonic passage, often considered ironical, could be read in the light of fragments and testimonies about literary interpretation and criticism of these three sophists, considering that each parody, to be effective, should be based on real elements.
Questo lavoro è incentrato sull'individuazione nel famoso passo platonico dei metodi effetivamente adoperati dai sofisti nell'analisi e commento dei testi letterari.
