This paper will focus on remains and traces of banquets found inside the sacred buildings of the Early Dynastic Mesopotamia. By means of different examples, the discovery of large amounts of pottery inside temples, evidence for the celebration festivals including the consumption of a collective meal will be discussed. The social implications of eating will be investigated as well.
