In a laboratory model, made up by a column filled with a pyrex matrix and a mixture of Turpentine oil and Xilene, the study of a tracer particles flow in a saturated porous media has been carried out. The solid matrix and the liquid are chosed in such a way that they have the same refractive index and result to be transparent to a light beam passing across it. The observations of the flow inside th eporous media are carried out lighting the examined section by means of a laser laminar sheet and using a video camera, the images are transferred to a PC for the analysis of the particle trajectories. PIV technique is used to determine two velocity componets. Experimental set-up and some first results are presented.

Abstract
In a laboratory model, made up by a column filled with a pyrex matrix and a mixture of Turpentine oil and Xilene, the study of a tracer particles flow in a saturated porous media has been carried out. The solid matrix and the liquid are chosed in such a way that they have the same refractive index and result to be transparent to a light beam passing across it. The observations of the flow inside th eporous media are carried out lighting the examined section by means of a laser laminar sheet and using a video camera, the images are transferred to a PC for the analysis of the particle trajectories. PIV technique is used to determine two velocity componets. Experimental set-up and some first results are presented.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
