The essay explores the relationship between choreography and narrative by analysing the comic ballet The Taming of the Shrew (1969) by John Cranko (1927-1973), from Shakespeare. In particular, it focuses on the adaptation of the original play and the stylistic and expressive modes, considering the differences with the ballet d’action of the nineteenth century.
Il saggio indaga il rapporto tra coreografia e narrazione attraverso il balletto di John Cranko (1927-1973), "La bisbetica domata" (1969), tratto dalla commedia di Shakespeare. Si mette in luce, in particolare, il lavoro sul testo drammatico e le modalità stilistiche e interpretative rispetto al balletto d’azione del secolo passato.
