The design and production of lightweight shields to reduce radiated emissions and electromagnetic interference (EMI) with sensitive electronic apparatuses and systems is a challenge for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) engineers. An innovative lightweight shield has been developed to reduce EMI on and from printed circuit boards, while being easily shaped, and fulfilling requirements of law, production and installation costs. This paper describes the main features of the new Protect-IT shield and its shielding performance from EM field sources in different configurations, in a radio-frequency range up to a few gigahertz.
