The paper’s aims are to describe the transformation undergone in the Northern territories of the metropolitan area of Rome. As what happened in many other post-metropolitan regions all around the world, also those territories underwent a profound process of transformation related to their proximity to the city of Rome. Pressure related to demographic growth, increasing land use associated to the growth of building and the increasing presence of structures and infrastructures, not to mention the main effect of the financial crisis, have been characterizing this region, and determined the emergence of new dynamics, development patterns and territorial re-organization. Also the social life of local inhabitants has been transformed by these same processes. New social practices emerged reshaping the way people organize their life and the relation they establish with the very same concept of home and locality. And it is on these last aspects that this paper aims to focus in order to analyse the way dwelling has changed in these territories over the last decade. Forced to move out of the municipality of Rome by the unsustainable pressure of the housing market, many people have moved toward the Northern post-metropolitan and have been reorganizing their life in a new and more dispersed spatial dimension consisting of places and relations scattered over a vast territory. Commuting has become a habit for many people. The diffusion of these new behaviours determined profound changes in the way people related to the physical and social local context in which they reside.

Abstract
The diffusion of these new behaviours determined profound changes in the way people related to the physical and social local context in which they reside.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
