Intelligenze metropolitane. L’abitare urbano al tempo delle smart cities

The discourse on smart city rests on two assumptions. The first is related to information technology and communication, the second concerns human and social capital of the city, and therefore the well being of its inhabitants. The risk hidden behind the rhetoric of '"urban intelligence" is that the development of new urban forms, interconnected and technology-based, can produce new inequalities between people and technocratic ideological tendencies, while the politician is becoming more entrepreneurial and less oriented to the common.

Il discorso sulla smart city poggia su due presupposti. Il primo è quello relativo alle tecnologie dell’informazione e della comunicazione, il secondo riguarda invece gli aspetti legati al capitale umano e sociale delle città e dunque il benessere complessivo dei suoi abitanti. Ma il rischio nascosto dietro la retorica dell’“intelligenza urbana” è che lo sviluppo di nuove forme urbane altamente interconnesse e basate sulla tecnologia possa produrre nuove diseguaglianze tra abitanti e derive ideologiche tecnocratiche. Il tutto a scapito di un politico sempre più imprenditoriale e sempre meno capace di orientare le proprie azioni al bene comune.
