The paper describes an approach to soot formation/oxidation in turbulent flames which accounts for the effect of gas-phase carbon depletion due to sooting. A scaled gas-phase elemental carbon mass fraction is introduced and, in the framework of a laminar flamelet approach, a library is developed for use in turbulent models, for nonpremixed methane/air flames at 1 atm and 3 atm pressure. Results indicate a significant effect on soot precursors in particular.

Abstract
The paper describes an approach to soot formation/oxidation in turbulent flames which accounts for the effect of gas-phase carbon depletion due to sooting. A scaled gas-phase elemental carbon mass fraction is introduced and, in the framework of a laminar flamelet approach, a library is developed for use in turbulent models, for nonpremixed methane/air flames at 1 atm and 3 atm pressure. Results indicate a significant effect on soot precursors in particular.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
