Discours, Nation, chaos: La Sicile de Mussolini et des écrivains français dans "La Phalange" numéro consacré à La Sicile, 15 Septembre-15 Décembre 1937, n. 22-25

On the occasion of Mussolini's journey in Sicily in 1937, 'La Phalange', the post-symbolist review, dedicates a quadruple special issue to the event and in particular to the impressions of the French people who have visited the island or have made their acquaintance with it through the texts . The two parts of the issue are very different: the opening of Mussolini's speech is imbued with Colonial politics and with the echoes of the events that will happen. Among the hundreds of texts of writers, who on the contrary followed one another, reflections and memories are mixed up: there are those who have completely caught cultural reminiscences and those who have caught a distressing feeling of empiness and of danger , caused by the political confrontation of the moment.
