Architectural drawing in Rome, recounted through the exhibition curated by Franco Purini, Fabrizio Ronconi and Gianfranco Toso, is part of a complex and contradictory context. In Rome, more than in other parts of Italy, the sense of subordination of architecture to the history, as a trace of the past with which it is difficult to confront, is remarkable. It is also central the relationship between architecture and cities and it is clear a continuous uncertainty between rationalism and expressionism: are still strong influences of avant-garde. Moreover, as explained by Franco Purini, in Italy the relationship with modernity is difficult and belonging to it each time is contracted by Italian architects.

Abstract
Architectural drawing in Rome, recounted through the exhibition curated by Franco Purini, Fabrizio Ronconi and Gianfranco Toso, is part of a complex and contradictory context. In Rome, more than in other parts of Italy, the sense of subordination of architecture to the history, as a trace of the past with which it is difficult to confront, is remarkable. It is also central the relationship between architecture and cities and it is clear a continuous uncertainty between rationalism and expressionism: are still strong influences of avant-garde. Moreover, as explained by Franco Purini, in Italy the relationship with modernity is difficult and belonging to it each time is contracted by Italian architects.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
