NUOVE TENDENZE E NUOVE VOCI NELLE LETTERATURE EBRAICHE DEGLI STATI UNITI E DEL CANADA

Since the beginning of the 21st Century American-Jewish literature and Canadian-Jewish literature have undergone a gradual shifting. From a status of “hyphenated literatures” both passed, through a complex process of reevaluation, to a new status of “literatures of Jewish descent”. At the same time, new authors, on both sides of the border, clearly attempted to affirm a demarcation from the works of the so-called “Founding Fathers” (Abraham Cahan, Henry Roth, Bernard Malamud, Saul Bellow, Philip Roth, Abraham Moses Klein) and to offer an innovative approach to traditional North American Jewish issues such as “tradition”, “religion” and “assimilation”. The essay is intended to introduce these new authors (Nathan Englander, Jonathan Safron Foer, Nicole Krauss, Lara Vapnyar, Michael Chabon and Shalom Auslander) and their main novels.

Sin dall'inizio del XXI secole le letterature ebraiche in USA e Canada hanno subito una graduale trasformazione. Da letterature con il trattino si sono trasformate, non senza un complesso processo di rivalutazione, in letterature di origine ebraica. Allo stesso, di quà e di là del confine, nuovi autori si sono affacciati alla ribalta, segnando una divisione netta dalla letterature dei "padri fondatori"(Abraham Cahan, Henry Roth, Bernard Malamud, Saul Bellow, Philip Roth, Abraham Moses Klein) e proponendo un approccio diverso alle tradizionali tematiche dell'ebraismo nord-americano (religione, tradizione, assimilazione). Il saggio introduce e analizza nuovi autori (Nathan Englander, Jonathan Safron Foer, Nicole Krauss, Lara Vapnyar, Michael Chabon and Shalom Auslander) e i loro romanzi più significativi.
