The article analyzes some recent contributions in the historiographical debate about 17th Century’s libertinage érudit. These readings focus on writing techniques and rhetorical devices. They can help to redirect scholars toward news path of interpretative exploration. In the second part of the note, exemplifications are given about this kind of indirect or cipher writing.
