The paper presents a National Research (PRIN) funded this year. The author is responsible for the scientific unit of Wisdom which is in charge of Surveying and Representation, in the context of the whole multi-disciplinary research. The task of the unit covers the Survey of rupestrian architectures and represents an opportunity for study only now possible, thanks to the level of quality and miniaturization reached by laser technology and digital photocameras. While we briefly analyze some important aspects of today's established practice and possible developments.
