Pazzino di Palla Strozzi senatore di Roma (1436-1437)

Pazzino Strozzi (1402ca.-1437) was member of the economically less prosperous branch of the great Florentine family and began his career as an external officer thanks to the support of Pope Eugene IV during his stay in Florence in 1434. Pazzino was podestà of Perugia for three consecutive terms and, since December 1436, Senator of Rome. The history of the Strozzi, rebuilt by unpublished documents, also helps to show the dynamics of administrative, political and social aspects of Roman municipal government, as well as the complex relationship between Rome and the papal dominion.

Pazzino Strozzi (1402ca.-1437), appartenente al ramo meno economicamente florido della grande famiglia fiorentina, intraprese la carriera di magistrato forestiero grazie soprattutto all’appoggio concessogli da papa Eugenio IV durante il suo soggiorno a Firenze nel 1434. Pazzino fu podestà di Perugia per tre mandati consecutivi e, dal dicembre 1436, senatore di Roma. La storia dello Strozzi, ricostruita tramite documentazione in gran parte inedita, contribuisce anche a mettere in luce le dinamiche amministrative, politiche e sociali del governo municipale romano, nonché il complesso rapporto fra Roma e la signoria pontificia.
