This colloquium presents a discussion on how a young group of researchers (in the Ph.D course on Regional and Urban Planning at Sapienza, University of Rome) address the transition from articulated theoretical reflections (about topics and relevant issues) to operational and thin tools. To affect the built environment transformation is the primary requirement of the Roman school of planning. Within each research topic the authors examine macro concepts and then re-emerge to define tools for actions and guidelines for urban transformation. The authors attempt to address how planning research can make concrete contributions to the operational contexts without giving up with complex issues.

Abstract
This colloquium presents a discussion on how a young group of researchers (in the Ph.D course on Regional and Urban Planning at Sapienza, University of Rome) address the transition from articulated theoretical reflections (about topics and relevant issues) to operational and thin tools. To affect the built environment transformation is the primary requirement of the Roman school of planning. Within each research topic the authors examine macro concepts and then re-emerge to define tools for actions and guidelines for urban transformation. The authors attempt to address how planning research can make concrete contributions to the operational contexts without giving up with complex issues.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
