Breast feeding training within the BFHCI OMS-UNICEF Project: a critical reflection The importance of training health professionals regarding breast feeding promotion in terms of duration and exclusiveness is well known. Within the UNICEF initiative “Baby friendly hospitals and communities” this training represents a crucial part of the “10 Steps”. Despite the many positive experiences, the undoubted expertise of many trainers and the training module followed worldwide (WHO Course 20 hours) – considered to be the standard to which to refer to – not always the training translates into improved professional performance. The Authors propose a reflection in general terms considering all variables within the training program in order to identify the possible causes of this mismatch between investment in terms of resources and energy, and the results achieved.

Abstract
Breast feeding training within the BFHCI OMS-UNICEF Project: a critical reflection The importance of training health professionals regarding breast feeding promotion in terms of duration and exclusiveness is well known. Within the UNICEF initiative “Baby friendly hospitals and communities” this training represents a crucial part of the “10 Steps”. Despite the many positive experiences, the undoubted expertise of many trainers and the training module followed worldwide (WHO Course 20 hours) – considered to be the standard to which to refer to – not always the training translates into improved professional performance. The Authors propose a reflection in general terms considering all variables within the training program in order to identify the possible causes of this mismatch between investment in terms of resources and energy, and the results achieved.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
