An experimental investigation on the nucleation of a model system, i.e. potassium sulfate in aqueous solutions, by a nephelometric sensor is reported. Nucleation was investigated by polythermal and isothermal methods. The nephelometric signal was proven to be a useful tool for the measurements of both metastable zone width and induction time. The main aim of the used instrument is the continuous monitoring of the crystal suspension density after the first appearance of the crystals. This information may be helpful to investigate the nucleation and growth rates after the nucleation point detection.

Abstract
An experimental investigation on the nucleation of a model system, i.e. potassium sulfate in aqueous solutions, by a nephelometric sensor is reported. Nucleation was investigated by polythermal and isothermal methods. The nephelometric signal was proven to be a useful tool for the measurements of both metastable zone width and induction time. The main aim of the used instrument is the continuous monitoring of the crystal suspension density after the first appearance of the crystals. This information may be helpful to investigate the nucleation and growth rates after the nucleation point detection.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
