Microwave ablation is a stand-alone therapy used to remove unhealthy tissues by locally increasing the temperature up to 60 - 70 °C, for a short time (a few minutes). The fundamental step in the development of microwave ablation systems is the antenna design where several constraints must be taken into account. In this paper, a semi-analytic technique is used to evaluate the input impedance of the antennas. The obtained results are compared with literature data, with numerical simulations, and experimental measurements. © 2010 EuMA.

Abstract
Microwave ablation is a stand-alone therapy used to remove unhealthy tissues by locally increasing the temperature up to 60 - 70 °C, for a short time (a few minutes). The fundamental step in the development of microwave ablation systems is the antenna design where several constraints must be taken into account. In this paper, a semi-analytic technique is used to evaluate the input impedance of the antennas. The obtained results are compared with literature data, with numerical simulations, and experimental measurements. © 2010 EuMA.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
