A cooperation between the CNEA and the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” was established to investigate the influence of magnetic field on the crystallization kinetics of sucrose. The investigation will be ac-complished by means of the single crystal techniques. This work reports a preliminary experimental investigation: the growth of crystals in contact with a supersaturated solution were observed under a digital microscope for 24-36 hours. The linear growth rate along the two main crystal dimensions were de-tected. A first series of runs was accomplished to study the growth rate dispersion. Then, the effect on the crystal growth of temperature and mother liquor concentration was investigated. Afterwards, the magnetic field was applied and the influence on the growth rate was investigated. The magnetic fields seems to have a negligible effect on the crystal growth rate: these preliminary results have to be confirmed by other experimental campaigns.

Abstract
The magnetic fields seems to have a negligible effect on the crystal growth rate: these preliminary results have to be confirmed by other experimental campaigns.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
