This paper focuses on a particular structure consisting of “con + N + relative clause”. This construction can be classified in three different types : i) Modal-associative, ii) Circumstantial, iii) Attendant. After discussing the value of the preposition con and the nature of the relative which make this structure, the Author defines it as a type of “augmented absolute construction” carrying out a particular syntactic connexion (between syndesis and asyndesis). Finally she analyses syntactic, semantic and textual features of three types of “con + N + relative”, both in contemporary (literary and journalistic) prose and in a corpus of ancient and modern texts (xivth-xixth centuries).

Abstract
This paper focuses on a particular structure consisting of “con + N + relative clause”. This construction can be classified in three different types : i) Modal-associative, ii) Circumstantial, iii) Attendant. After discussing the value of the preposition con and the nature of the relative which make this structure, the Author defines it as a type of “augmented absolute construction” carrying out a particular syntactic connexion (between syndesis and asyndesis). Finally she analyses syntactic, semantic and textual features of three types of “con + N + relative”, both in contemporary (literary and journalistic) prose and in a corpus of ancient and modern texts (xivth-xixth centuries).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
