The recent Italian research activities on tsunami risk mitigation are summarized in the paper. The attention is focused on: field measurements, physical modelling of landslide generated tsunami, tsunami detection alghoritms, numerical and analytical models. Furthermore a synthetic description of the operating landslide tsunami Early Warning System of Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy) is provided.
