An analytical model for evaluating performance of Delta networks is presented. The networks are supposed to operate with the packet switching technique. The proposed model is not constrained by increasing both the dimension of the basic switching element and the buffer size. The theoretical approach is characterized by a complete logical separation between the basic switching element model and the whole network one. The first one is analyzed by means of discrete time Markov chain, whereas the second one has been solved by means of numerical techniques. The data collected via the analytical approach are compared with the correspondent simulative values. The comparison between the two sets of data allows to assess the influence of the hypotheses assumed in the analytical model.
