We reported the results obtained with ibopamine provocative test in more than 500 eyes with primary open angle glaucoma, ocular hypertension, normal tension glaucoma, cortisone glaucoma, pigmentary glaucoma and exfoliative glaucoma and in more than 300 healthy normotensive eyes. The test was positive in 88% of primary open angle glaucoma, in 61% of ocular hypertension, in 50% of normal tension glaucoma and in 100% of cortisone glaucoma patients. The test is always negative in healthy subjects. The importance of ibopamine, both in diagnosis of intraocular hydrodynamic disorders and in ophthalmoscopy due to its non cycloplegic mydriatic effect, is stressed.
