The narrow-leaved plantains are one of the topics of a wider research aimed to solve the taxonomical and coenological identity of some critical taxa occurring in the south-Eastern European mountains The present paper deal with the necessity to establish the identity of the names Plantago serpentina All. and P. strictissima L. in order to avoid to replace the well-known and universally used name P. serpentina, by the previously almost ignored and virtually unknown earlier name, P. strictissima.
