Abstract
This article, from emotions-society nexus, without claiming to be exhaustive aims to reflect on some of the social and cultural reasons that characterize the contemporary fear, here defined as the gray side of modernity, and the role of mass media in the construction and representation of fear itself. In particular, will be taken as an example a recent case of scaremongering pandemic. Fear is the emotion perhaps most emblematic of our society weak and impoverished. It 's the most palpable sign of a malaise that lurks in the folds of modernity unresolved, irrational, unpredictable, in everything that you may not know until the end. It 'a fear, therefore, inversely proportional to the awareness of the ambivalence of knowledge, and the reflective capacity to manage the risks inherent in everyday life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
