The paper investigates the different ways Brunetto Latini, who was a notary and a statesman in 13th century Florence, considered political exclusion in his works. The analysis reveals a twofold possibility which can be found in other authors’ texts. On one side, political exclusion could be considered as an act of war, on the other side, as a judicial sentence. The attitudes Brunetto shows on this subject can be used as an argument to support the hypothesis that his Tesoretto was dedicated to Charles of Anjou.

Abstract
The paper investigates the different ways Brunetto Latini, who was a notary and a statesman in 13th century Florence, considered political exclusion in his works. The analysis reveals a twofold possibility which can be found in other authors’ texts. On one side, political exclusion could be considered as an act of war, on the other side, as a judicial sentence. The attitudes Brunetto shows on this subject can be used as an argument to support the hypothesis that his Tesoretto was dedicated to Charles of Anjou.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
