The unique blending of the formal, geometrical and structural languages of Pier Luigi Nervi is analysed by means of a non-standard reverse engineering operation, employing a research methodology based on a virtual laboratory. Moving from the historical sources, digital models of Nervi's architectural works are developed to produce rapid prototyping physical scale models emphasizing the peculiar structural morphogenesis.
