With the publication of Decree 4 June 2013, n. 63, Italy has finally transposed 2010/31/EU Directive on the energy performance of buildings in the national legislation. The Directive requires that Member States shall ensure, by 31 December 2020, that all new buildings are “nearly zero- energy buildings” (nZEB) and modifies the Energy Performance Certificate of buildings introduced by 2002/91/Ce Directive. The article presents the latest innovations introduced in the Italian legislation in the field of energy performance of buildings and the implications for the operators in the construction industry.
