The contribution critically interrogates the possible meanings of the idea and the concept of sustainability and its practices related to housing and dwelling, against the increasingly widespread (and often instrumental) of the concept, or often the slogan of "sustainable living ". It then discusses an interpretation of the whole technique of sustainability, or linked to the characteristics of the architectural or functional characteristics of the urban organization ("sustainable neighborhoods"). It reflects on the role of imaginary cities, but also on the critical visions of "sustainable living" that emerge from many quarters. It is therefore proposed to reason on the issues of the urban and urbanity from the point of view of sustainability, starting from the practices of dwelling and the everydaily life.

Abstract
The contribution critically interrogates the possible meanings of the idea and the concept of sustainability and its practices related to housing and dwelling, against the increasingly widespread (and often instrumental) of the concept, or often the slogan of "sustainable living ". It then discusses an interpretation of the whole technique of sustainability, or linked to the characteristics of the architectural or functional characteristics of the urban organization ("sustainable neighborhoods"). It reflects on the role of imaginary cities, but also on the critical visions of "sustainable living" that emerge from many quarters. It is therefore proposed to reason on the issues of the urban and urbanity from the point of view of sustainability, starting from the practices of dwelling and the everydaily life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
