Pneumonia caused by Legionella pneumophila is usually associated with nosocomial infections because of an increased risk of patients who are in a state of disease and immunosuppression. However, public authorities, such as the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), responsible for the control, are not limited only to the analysis of health care facilities, but extend their reach to other possible sources of contamination, such as the residential facilities. The authors propose a risk analysis Legionella infection through the presentation of a case study of laboratory operated by the provincial section of ARPALazio on samples from accommodation located in the province of Rome. 585 samples were analyzed, as follows: 39,48% in 2007, 32,99% in 2008 and 27,53% in 2009. The structures examined were camping (3,24%), hotels (89,57%) and religious residences (7,19%). In 2007 the non-compliant samples were 7,79%, 9,84% in 2008 and finally become 18,01% in 2009.
