In spite of its simplicity, the mathematical description of a single enzyme reaction, based on Michaelis-Menten kinetics, has attracted several authors and, though introduced quite one century ago, still new results on this topic continue to be obtained. In this paper we study the case of high enzyme concentrations, determining the solutions in terms of an asymptotic expansion with respect to a suitable (small) perturbative parameter. We compare our results with existing literature, mainly with recent works by De Boer and Segel (1996); Schnell and Maini (2000); Tzafriri (2003); Dingee and Anton (2008).

Abstract
In spite of its simplicity, the mathematical description of a single enzyme reaction, based on Michaelis-Menten kinetics, has attracted several authors and, though introduced quite one century ago, still new results on this topic continue to be obtained. In this paper we study the case of high enzyme concentrations, determining the solutions in terms of an asymptotic expansion with respect to a suitable (small) perturbative parameter. We compare our results with existing literature, mainly with recent works by De Boer and Segel (1996); Schnell and Maini (2000); Tzafriri (2003); Dingee and Anton (2008).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
