The Authors report the clinical, histological and immunohistochemical findings of three cases of follicular mucinosis associated with cutaneous lymphomas, mycosis fungoides type. The immunological phenotype of the mononuclear follicular infiltrating cells was particularly investigated. The results display an increased number of OKT6+/OKIa+ dendritic cells in the affected follicules and presence of OKT3+/Leu5+/OKT4+ diffuse perifollicular and focally intrafollicular lymphocytic infiltrating cells. The Authors underline the role of the cell-mediated immunity in the pathogenesis of follicular mucinosis and suggest that a chronic immunostimulation could explain the coexistence of follicular mucinosis and mycosis fungoides.

Abstract
The Authors report the clinical, histological and immunohistochemical findings of three cases of follicular mucinosis associated with cutaneous lymphomas, mycosis fungoides type. The immunological phenotype of the mononuclear follicular infiltrating cells was particularly investigated. The results display an increased number of OKT6+/OKIa+ dendritic cells in the affected follicules and presence of OKT3+/Leu5+/OKT4+ diffuse perifollicular and focally intrafollicular lymphocytic infiltrating cells. The Authors underline the role of the cell-mediated immunity in the pathogenesis of follicular mucinosis and suggest that a chronic immunostimulation could explain the coexistence of follicular mucinosis and mycosis fungoides.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
