Objective: To compare Stark's method of cesarean section with the traditional technique. Method: We performed a retrospective study in all patients undergoing cesarean section since January 1997 to July 1999 [T 525; 311(59%) Stark group and 214 (41%) traditional group]. The fetus extraction's time and the postoperative recovery of women who underwent Stark's method was compared with that of women who had undergone traditional technique. Results: The fetus extraction's time was 5 minutes in the Stark group compared with 10,5 minutes in the traditional group (p=0,001). The first minute Apgar's values were better in Stark group than values in traditional group. In Stark group the postoperative recovery times and complications are drastically reduced. Conclusions: Stark method of the cesarean section reduces short and long term maternal morbidity, reduces fetus extraction's time and total costs of surgery, without detracting from cosmetic advantages.

Abstract
Conclusions: Stark method of the cesarean section reduces short and long term maternal morbidity, reduces fetus extraction's time and total costs of surgery, without detracting from cosmetic advantages.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
