In this research a statistical methodology for the classification of rainfall events in homogeneous classes is applied. Different meteorological conditions producing storm could be identified analyzing the observed statistical behavior of space-time rainfall field. Classification of storms is developed on a first selection of statistically independent events. Secondarily rainrate temporal variability is analyzed through a statistical technique. The methodology is applied to the case study of Rome urban area. Over the target area (~1000 km2) is available an 18 stations raingauge network. The data set covers a period of seven years with five minutes temporal resolution.

Abstract
In this research a statistical methodology for the classification of rainfall events in homogeneous classes is applied. Different meteorological conditions producing storm could be identified analyzing the observed statistical behavior of space-time rainfall field. Classification of storms is developed on a first selection of statistically independent events. Secondarily rainrate temporal variability is analyzed through a statistical technique. The methodology is applied to the case study of Rome urban area. Over the target area (~1000 km2) is available an 18 stations raingauge network. The data set covers a period of seven years with five minutes temporal resolution.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
