Different studies identified self-efficacy as an important variable which may mediate the relationship between stressor and distress in different contexts. Specifically, it has been hypothesized that caregiver self-efficacy may have positive effects for caregiver distress and depression. This study has two aims. The first is to contribute to the Italian validation of the Revised Caregiver Self-efficacy Scale of Steffen and colleagues. A second aim is to evaluate the mediational role of self-efficacy in the relationship between burden and psychological distress. A confirmatory analysis has been performed with 213 caregivers. The analysis confirmed the presence of the three dimensions (Obtaining Respite, Responding to Disruptive Patient Behaviors, and Controlling Upsetting Thoughts). The second study had evaluated the measures in 111 caregivers in three different moments during a year. Structural equation model analysis had confirmed the mediational role of self-efficacy.

Abstract
Structural equation model analysis had confirmed the mediational role of self-efficacy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
