In one of the first pages of the notebook Kalach there is the following description of Juan Palomar (architect and professor at the University of Florida): "It seems that he does not take any account of the beauty of the sign. His state of mind when filling a notebook, paper or project is always the same urgency and immediacy. Apparently it does not seem to think about when designing the most-likely is taking a bit 'of dictation that is always too fast. Traits. Sketches that sometimes it is worth revisiting with yet another layer of shadow, a sudden touch of gold, a few notes. And the next time. '"
Una biblioteca di Brooklyn che promuove, e poi raccoglie, taccuini provenienti da tutto il mondo realizzati da autori comuni. E sconosciuti. Con una piccola somma di denaro (25 dollari) si aderisce a quello che viene chiamato “Sketchbook project”: si riceve un taccuino che l’autore riempirà e manderà alla biblioteca che lo catalogherà e per un anno sarà incluso nelle mostre che verranno organizzate dalla biblioteca. C’è poi la possibilità di chiedere la digitalizzazione del proprio taccuino che avrà un codice a barre ed entrerà nella biblioteca virtuale. Sarà consultabile in rete inserendo il nome dell’autore. Un altro progetto editoriale che riguarda il taccuino è quello della Molenskine che ha pubblicato nell’ottobre del 2011 quattro taccuini degli architetti Zaha Hadid, Bolles&Wilson, Giancarlo de Carlo e quest’ultimo che vi mostro del messicano Alberto Kalach. La pubblicazione non riguarda solo gli schizzi del taccuino (che però sono l’aspetto principale) ma questi schizzi vengono preceduti da brevi testi che raccontano l’architetto e da una breve intervista. In una delle prime pagine del taccuino di Kalach c'è la seguente descrizione di Juan Palomar (architetto e docente della University of Florida): “Sembra che egli non tenga in nessun conto la bellezza del segno. Il suo stato d’animo quando riempie un quaderno, fogli di carta o progetti è sempre lo stesso: urgenza ed immediatezza. Apparentemente sembra non pensare quando disegna –più probabilmente sta togliendo un po’ di dettatura che è sempre troppo veloce. Tratti. Schizzi che a volte vale la pena rivisitare con ancora un altro strato di ombra, un tocco improvviso di oro, poche note. E al successivo".
