Google Earth, Google Maps and Bing (Microsoft) represent very important and useful tools for teaching geography and in this paper the author focuses the attention on the added value that these tools provide for the geographical study of volcanoes and the relation between men and volcanoes. After defining a synthesis regarding the main functionalities of these spatial teaching tools and after proposing some methodological considerations, this paper provides an example of a guided lesson subdivided into two parts: the first one illustrates some elements useful to know volcanic morphologies, dynamics, characteristics and phenomena; the second one, which is focussed on Italian regional cases, provides some elements for a didactical evaluation of the exposure to risk and the use of geothermal energy. Thus, the author shows how Google Earth, Google Maps and Bing can represent interesting tools for a modern and engaging teaching of geography which is able to promote interdisciplinary approach

Abstract
Thus, the author shows how Google Earth, Google Maps and Bing can represent interesting tools for a modern and engaging teaching of geography which is able to promote interdisciplinary approachI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
