The effect of increasing connectance (i.e. number of interacting neighbouring masses) on the equipartition threshold of a Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) model with 32 mass points is considered. Increasing the number of interacting neighbour mass points from 2 to 3, 4 and 5 and keeping constant the effective strength of the nonlinear terms no sensible effect on the critical energy for equipartition is observed.

Abstract
The effect of increasing connectance (i.e. number of interacting neighbouring masses) on the equipartition threshold of a Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) model with 32 mass points is considered. Increasing the number of interacting neighbour mass points from 2 to 3, 4 and 5 and keeping constant the effective strength of the nonlinear terms no sensible effect on the critical energy for equipartition is observed.File allegati a questo prodotto
