The effects of a tilted crystal orientation in a Ir-doped zero-cut n-type BaTiO3 crystal were studied, along with the photorefractive screening solitons occurring in the material. A maximum experimentally available angle of αint,max≅12°, was obtained after a series of experiments in tilted configuration. Good qualitative agreement for angles up to αint≅9° suggests that 1 D theory in this range is still valid in the tilted configuration.

Abstract

The effects of a tilted crystal orientation in a Ir-doped zero-cut n-type BaTiO3 crystal were studied, along with the photorefractive screening solitons occurring in the material. A maximum experimentally available angle of αint,max≅12°, was obtained after a series of experiments in tilted configuration. Good qualitative agreement for angles up to αint≅9° suggests that 1 D theory in this range is still valid in the tilted configuration.
