The phenomenology associated with the interaction and collision of two solitons of the same continuous medium but of different dimensionality was studied. Observations were carried out in the screening photorefractive soliton configuration, in which a one-dimensional slab/stripe beam was self-trapped simultaneously to a two-dimensional needle solution. Simultaneous observation of the two phenomena was obtained by choosing the size and intensity of the two single beams so as to allow soliton propagation of each with the same common external physical parameters.

Abstract

The phenomenology associated with the interaction and collision of two solitons of the same continuous medium but of different dimensionality was studied. Observations were carried out in the screening photorefractive soliton configuration, in which a one-dimensional slab/stripe beam was self-trapped simultaneously to a two-dimensional needle solution. Simultaneous observation of the two phenomena was obtained by choosing the size and intensity of the two single beams so as to allow soliton propagation of each with the same common external physical parameters.
