The paper explore which could be the opportunities, if design starts to improve its feature of utility, replying to specific needs, in order to face the real challenges, develop possible alternatives and imagine new productive connections. Analyzing some new approaches of design, and also of other disciplines, to the food productive system, the aim of this paper is to define a paradigmatic transition from food design to design ‘for’ food.
