Some results of power-frequency partial discharge tests carried out on transformer oil are presented, with the aim of characterizing the oil behavior under electrical stress lower than breakdown value. The test results are arranged in order of increasing magnitudes, and the cumulative probability of partial discharge (PD) inception voltage is estimated for each PD intensity level. Curves relating PD level to the inception voltage for different values of probability are given.
