The interest in modern new towns, and, generally speaking, in Italian modern architecture, is due to the relevant functional and aesthetic result reached both in urban planning and in architectural design. In the number of the towns, Guidonia shows most adhesion to the Modern than the other ones. This architectural exception is just one of several remarks concerning the quality of this new town, built in 1935-1937, serving the principal aeronautical research center in Italy.
A partire dagli studi sull'impianto urbanistico, sui caratteri architettonici e sulle qualità della costruzione, si traccia un quadro multiscalare delle potenzialità di sviluppo in coerenza con i caratteri del moderno posseduti dalla città nuova di Guidonia, fondata nel 1935 nel Lazio, che più attengono alla contemporaneità.
