Ovid's Tristia have an important precedent and model in some famous allegorical poems of Alcaeus on the storm; through Alcaeus, the theme of the poet who is in danger of sinking is connected to the themes of the exile and the civil strife. A reinterpretation of Ovid and of Alcaeus is that of Eumolpus, who composes (during the storm?) his Bellum civile in the Satyricon of Petronius.
