The author studies several aspects of the roman branch of this association of athletes: the location of its headquarters in the city, its history and its administration. The synodos was somehow connected with the sympas xystos, headed by xystarchai and epi balaneion Sebastou or Sebaston. The author studies the functions of these magistrates in connection with the organization of the Imperial Bath in Rome. The author argues that the xystarchai, appointed by the Emperor, may have been in charge of the athletes, while the epi balaneion were responsible for the place where athletics were performed.

Abstract
The author studies several aspects of the roman branch of this association of athletes: the location of its headquarters in the city, its history and its administration. The synodos was somehow connected with the sympas xystos, headed by xystarchai and epi balaneion Sebastou or Sebaston. The author studies the functions of these magistrates in connection with the organization of the Imperial Bath in Rome. The author argues that the xystarchai, appointed by the Emperor, may have been in charge of the athletes, while the epi balaneion were responsible for the place where athletics were performed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
