The structure and the editorial layout of the book of Epodes are interpreted by the poet as a means of expression, especially in epode 11, where, after the "perfect" structure of epodes 1-10, Horace calls into question his own iambic inspiration (not without a specific connection with the elegiac form and the Eclogues of Vergil). The theme of amorous desire is juxtaposed by the poet to the aggressive mode that is typical of iambic poetry. Some other significant moments of the epodic book are taken into consideration (especially epodes 13 and 17), also in relation to Callimachus’ Iambi.
La struttura e la disposizione editoriale del libro degli Epodi vengono utilizzati dal poeta come mezzi espressivi, in particolare nell’epodo 11 in cui, a seguire la “perfetta” struttura degli epodi 1-10, Orazio mette in discussione la sua stessa ispirazione giambica (nel confronto con la forma elegiaca e l’esemplare delle Bucoliche virgiliane). Il tema del desiderio amoroso viene messo in contrasto dal poeta con l’aggressività giambica. Sono presi in esame alcuni altri significativi momenti del libro epodico (specialmente gli epodi 13 e 17), anche in relazione al modello dei Giambi di Callimaco.
